Coronation Street fans have been left fearing the worst after a star of the ITV soap 'leaked' how Gail Platt's exit storyline will play out in a heartbreaking twist
A Coronation Street favourite has seemingly dropped a massive spoiler about Gail Platt’s much-anticipated exit plot.
Earlier this year, fans were gobsmacked to hear that Helen Worth, who plays Gail, is bowing out of the soap after an epic 50-year stint. The showrunners have been tight-lipped but promised a tear-jerker of a send-off for the character.
The buzz around Weatherfield was that Gail’s dramatic departure would be part of a “major” new chapter for the Platt clan. There was chatter about her ex, Martin Platt (played by Sean Wilson), popping back onto the scene.
Despite filming his bits, he had to ditch the cobbles due to ‘personal reasons. ‘. But now, it seems a Corrie cast member might’ve accidentally spilled the beans on how Gail will say her goodbyes and it’s set to shake things up.
Dee-Dee Bailey portrayer Channique Sterling-Brown posted a cheeky behind-the-scenes glimpse on her Instagram Story, reports the Liverpool Echo.Caught in the act of a late-night shoot, Channique snapped the iconic street, joking: “Nothing like a night shoot to make you regret dancing until 2am,” paired with a teary-eyed emoji.
But eagle-eyed fans spotted something telling in the pic Gail’s gaff, No. 8 Coronation Street, flaunting an estate agent’s sign, hinting the house is hitting the market. Currently, the pad houses Gail’s son David Platt, his missus Shona, and their kids Max and Lily. Meanwhile, Gail’s other offspring, Nick Tilsley and Sarah Platt, are all settled in their own places with their little ones.

Helen, the soap legend, has announced her departure from the cobbles in June, saying: “This year felt like the perfect time to leave the show after celebrating 50 years in the most wonderful job on the most wonderful street in the world. The past 50 years have flown by and I don’t think the fact that I am leaving has quite sunk in yet.”
Meanwhile, Corrie fans are bricking it over the possibility of a tragic twist in Gail’s exit plot. They’ve been speculating like mad online, with some convinced they’ve sussed out how Gail will bow out and they’re fretting she might be for the chop.
One worried viewer tweeted: “Dear #Corrie producers…. whatever you do, DO NOT kill off Gail Platt.” Another fan posted, clearly shaken: “This scares me she’s decided she wants Gail to be killed off instead. I’m actually scared.”
