Coronation Street star confirms new project as major exit is ‘sealed’
Coronation Street’s Emrhys Cooper has shared an exciting clip of his next project – a horror film.
The star arrived in the ITV soap as Rowan Cunliffe earlier this year. At first, Rowan was introduced as the leader of a self-help group called The Institute. Once he had charmed Leanne (Jane Danson) and brought her into the organisation, his corrupt ways were slowly exposed.
For months on end, Leanne failed to believe Rowan was leading a cult. As a result of the manipulation and brainwashing, Leanne turned her back on sister Toyah (Georgia Taylor) and partner Nick (Ben Price), leading to them starting an affair.
Earlier this month though, the wool was finally pulled from Leanne’s eyes as she came to accept Rowan was a blackmailing criminal.
Nick then made his way to see DS Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) with a notebook full of evidence that revealed the truth about The Institute. Rowan was arrested and charged with blackmail and fraud.
After saying goodbye to the world of Weatherfield, star Emrhys Cooper has kept himself very busy. Over on his Instagram last week, he confirmed his next role will be in a remake of the 1922 silent film, Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror.
Sharing a teaser trailer of what to expect, Emrhys wrote alongside: ‘I’m thrilled to FINALLY share our film Nosferatu: A Symphony of horror, a remake of the 1922 silent film is being released on the 18th of October 🧛🏻♂️.
‘It’s been an incredible journey bringing this iconic tale back to life, and I couldn’t be more honoured to star alongside the legendary @actordougjones in this dark and haunting reimagining. Excited to share the official trailer.’
A few days after Rowan’s arrest, Emrhys surprisingly made a return to the ITV soap.
Sharing a selfie of him in a dressing room, the actor wrote on his Instagram Stories: ‘It’s not personal, it’s strictly business.’
The Coronation Street location tag was also seen in the bottom right corner.
Given the way Leanne’s involvement in The Institute ended and the police involvement, it’s certainly left us intrigued as to how Rowan will be back.
Not to mention the impact it’ll have on Leanne and her family once again.
