Audrey Roberts makes colossal mistake that’s devastating for Bethany Platt after more bad news in Coronation Street
Audrey Roberts (Sue Nicholls) has left the Platts in a difficult position after accidentally revealing the real reason behind Bethany Platt’s (Lucy Fallon) life-saving surgery in Coronation Street.
Bethany has had to undergo treatment in Turkey after her liposuction procedure went wrong, and her surgery and subsequent hospital stay is wracking up an enormous bill for the family.
In a bid to try and tackle it, David Platt (Jack P Shepherd) decided to start a Gofundme page, which has so far received a number of donations.
However, with the bill still far from being paid, and with more cash being added on with every day of Bethany’s hospital stay, Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien) has been stressed beyond belief.
In tonight’s episode, she was shocked to receive a visit from the CEO of the company who had given Bethany the liposuction.
When they offered to pay for Sarah’s hotel stay, she was horrified, insisting that she was owed much more than that.
Unfortunately, the CEO presented her with a waiver that Bethany had signed, which outlined the risks of the procedure, meaning that they couldn’t be held to account.
Things were only set to get worse from there, however, when attitudes towards David turned sour in the pub, and he soon realised that the truth of Bethany’s liposuction was common knowledge.
It transpired that Audrey had posted a public complaint about the company which had been shared around, with people working out what had really led to Bethany’s hospital stay.
Grieving Bernie Winter (Jane Hazlegrove) ripped into David and Audrey at son Paul Foreman’s (Peter Ash) wake, and left them horrified when she insisted that Bethany had brought her suffering on herself.
Later, Audrey had no choice but to break the news to Sarah that the Gofundme page was now a bust, as people believed they had donated under false pretences.
With Sarah still worried about Bethany, and more bills piling on top of her, how will she cope?
