Major villain returns in twist to Bethany’s harrowing Coronation Street storyline
Damon Hay (Ciaran Griffiths) has jumped at the chance to help Sarah (Tina O’Brien) and Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon) in Coronation Street.
Currently, Damon is behind bars after a burglary went terribly wrong. Prior to this, he had actually made quite a lot of effort to start a long-term relationship with Sarah.
Life for the Platt family change dramatically recently when they discovered Bethany was in intensive care. She had flown abroad for a job, but took part in botched liposuction surgery which resulted in her contracting sepsis.
Frustratingly, because of issues with Bethany’s insurance, the Platt clan are being forced to raise the funds to pay for her medical fees and bring her home.
Previously, Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson) found a voicemail from Damon on Sarah’s phone.
Next week, amid the return of Jesse Chadwick (John Thomson), he decides to discuss Damon’s hidden money with Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard).
He then calls at the factory and confesses to Sarah that Damon has offered to pay for Bethany’s medical bills but he deleted the message from her phone.
Sarah then phones Damon in prison, but will he be the person to save Bethany and the family from all this stress?
Discussing this storyline, Tina O’Brien said: ‘Sarah isn’t embarrassed by what Bethany has done but she’s really hurt, I think she’s scared of the judgement she will face after doing this but I don’t think she’ll actively try to hide it.
‘She just thinks “why Bethany?” that’s her daughter, and she’s absolutely perfect in every single way with the most beautiful figure, so it hurts her that Bethany didn’t feel as if she was good enough and if anything, Sarah feels a bit responsible as she just thinks “Oh my God, have I not made her feel good enough about herself?” because she’s just so beautiful.’
