A new Coronation Street spoiler video reveals the moment DS Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) discovers the extent of Joel Deering’s (Calum Lill) messages towards her daughter Betsy (Sydney Martin).
Viewers of the ITV soap recently discovered that Betsy was involved in Joel’s drugging of Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton), so that she would go into early labour and lose her baby.
He’d forced her to phone a clinic requesting the drugs for herself, before he mixed them into Lauren’s soup.
After a heart to heart with bestie Sabrina Adetiba (Luana Santos), she headed to the hospital – where the sight of a seriously ill baby Frankie made her realise that telling her mum would be the best thing to do.
Lisa couldn’t believe that her daughter had become mixed up with the abuser, and questioned her over their interactions.
She explained about the drugging ordeal, and that he’d been regularly messaging her. In return for her actions, he was buttering her up with cash.
Luckily, they were able to find the phone call record which backed up Betsy’s claims, and Joel was charged.
Since then, he’s seemingly vanished into thin air after his car was found parked near a viaduct – with Lisa and Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) coming to the conclusion that he’d probably taken his own life.
As the spoiler video shows, they’re still keen to track him down and get more evidence.
Kit has been trawling through his laptop for more evidence when he stumbles across a feed of texts between Joel and Betsy.
Having been called in on her day off, Lisa is taken aback – especially when she realises the date is after he was charged.
The gross messages show him threatening Betsy with her life, something which she had no idea her daughter had been subjected to.
Soon, DI Costello approaches the pair and asks her to come into his office… Kit has had to report everything to him.
