Coronation Street star Peter Ash’s new role has been announced following his emotional exit in September.

Peter appeared on the ITV soap as Paul Foreman for 5 years from 2019, following a successful guest stint the year before.

The character was killed off in truly tragic scenes, that brought an end to along-running motor neurone disease story that kicked off almost 18 months prior.

Viewers saw his condition steadily decline during that time, first losing his mobility, and later struggling to speak.

More recently, Peter reprised the part as a ghostly vision through the eyes of Paul’s husband Billy’s (Daniel Brocklebank) eyes.

Last week, Billy got drunk at the pub, where the launch of Paul’s ashes into space was being live streamed. Drunk, he made a scene before rushing off into the cold and collapsing behind Underworld.

Exposed to the elements, he began to hallucinate Paul, who did his best to encourage Billy not to give up.

Following his conclusive final episode, Peter is now set to take to the stage in the world premiere of the stage adaptation of Picture You Dead.

The production follows DSI Grace, who is investigating a cold case that leads him to the world of fine art – but soon discovers the troubling underworld of greed, deception and murder.

Not too dissimilar from a Corrie storyline!

Starring alongside Peter is Fiona Wade, best known to soap fans as Priya Sharma in Emmerdale for twelve years.

Casualty’s George Rainsford, who played Ethan Hardy in the BBC medical drama, will take on the role of DSI Grace.

Picture You Dead is an adaption of a popular crime fiction novel series written by Peter James. It has also been made into an ITV drama which is in its fifth series.
