Coronation Street horror confirmed as major characters caught in house fire disaster
An inferno is set to rip through Coronation Street early next year as part of a deadly new plot, Metro can confirm.
Several fan favourites’ lives will be left hanging in the balance when they are caught in a family house fire.
A source told Metro: ‘The early part of the year is going to kick off the new era of Corrie with a bang pretty literally and one of the show’s core families are right at the heart of the fire storyline.
‘With a new boss at the helm, the show isn’t pulling any punches and it’s fair to say some fan-favourite lives are on the line.’
Local residents close to Corrie’s studios in Salford near Manchester have also been warned to expect ‘loud explosions and fire effects’ when cast and crew film the scenes next week.
A post on a community Facebook page seen by Metro says the show will be ‘recreating an explosion’, with ‘a noise of up to 100db’.
The house fire will be one of the first big stunts from new boss Kate Brooks, who took over the role of producer in April 2024 from former show boss Iain MacLeod.
When contacted by Metro, a spokesperson for the soap said: ‘Coronation Street do not comment on upcoming storylines.’
This side of New Year, Coronation Street is set to say goodbye to a Weatherfield icon when Helen Worth’s final scenes as Gail Platt air.
The actress quit the ITV soap after 50 years back in June, and bosses have promised she will get a happy ending.
Early Christmas spoilers have suggested she will tie the knot with new partner Jesse Chadwick (John Thomson) over the festive period before leaving the cobbles for good.
