Coronation Street favourite arrested for murder in unexpected twist – as two characters are now implicated
This article contains spoilers for tonight’s Coronation Street, which has not yet aired on TV but is available to watch now on ITVX.
DC Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) has finally got to the bottom of Joel Deering’s (Calum Lill) murder after being handed some damning evidence.
In tonight’s episode, Shona Platt (Julia Goulding) paid Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton) a visit, where she expressed her concerns for Max Turner’s (Paddy Bever) current predicament.
Max confessed to killing Joel last week, despite the fact that Lauren was the true killer.
With Max having recounted his version of events to a solicitor, Shona informed Lauren that he was unlikely to get off by pleading self-defence, as his story didn’t add up.
She revealed that unless they found some other evidence, then Max would likely go down for murder.
Horrified, Lauren finally came clean to Shona about what she’d done, and the pair tried to form a plan to free Max and keep them both out of trouble.
Lauren decided that she would tell the police that she had been there that night and watched Max hit Joel in self-defence, in the hope that a witness would help his case.
Shona reluctantly agreed, but asked to take the letter Max had written to Lauren to David Platt (Jack P Shepherd) to try to convince him that this really had been Max’s idea.
Unfortunately, David wasn’t swayed by the new plan, and instead delivered the letter directly to Kit.
Lauren was left completely devastated when she was arrested for murder and forced to leave Frankie behind, but things only got worse.
