Poor Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton) has been left terrified for son Frankie’s future after being arrested for Joel Deering’s (Calum Lill) murder in Coronation Street.

Lauren hit Joel over the head with a rock in defence of Max Turner (Paddy Bever), ending Joel’s reign of terror in Weatherfield.

She came clean about her actions to Shona Platt (Julia Goulding) after Max took the blame for the crime, and it became clear that he wasn’t going to get away with a plea of self-defence.

When David Platt (Jack P Shepherd) caught wind of Lauren’s confession and was given the evidence to prove it, he took it straight to the police, and Lauren has been in custody ever since.

In last night’s episode, Lauren appeared before the admissions board for the prison’s mother and baby unit, determined to fight to have Frankie by her side.

As she appeared before the board, she emotionally appealed to them, insisting that it would be better for both her and Frankie if he was with her, as she was all he knew.

Feeling as though she wasn’t being listened to, Lauren ended up snapping at the board, before apologising for her outburst.

Lauren was clearly devastated that things didn’t seem to be going her way, but her luck appeared to change when Dee-Dee Bailey (Channique Sterling-Brown) arrived and made a strong argument in Lauren’s favour.

Initially, Dee-Dee had planned to avoid the hearing, still reeling from her own shock baby discovery last week, but a conversation with Max, who was determined to help Lauren, soon changed her mind.

Despite Dee-Dee’s input, Lauren was still feeling low when she later spoke to Max, informing him that she didn’t think the board would rule in her favour.

When she asked Max if he’d be able to take Frankie in, he was forced to give her bad news, explaining how David and Shona had yet to agree, and even if they did, he wasn’t sure social services would allow it.

However, when David and Shona later returned home, Max was thrilled when they agreed to look after Frankie if necessary, and that they were sure social services would give them the go ahead.

Will Frankie be able to stay with Lauren, or will Max and the Platts be forced to step up?
