Major update for much-loved Coronation Street couple as they make things official
This article contains spoilers for tonight’s Coronation Street, which has not yet aired on TV but is available to watch now on ITVX.
Carla Connor (Alison King) and DS Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) have finally made things official in Coronation Street, and we couldn’t be happier.
Last week, the women finally gave in to their feelings for each other after Lisa spent a drunken night on Carla’s sofa, much to the joy of Corrie fans.
Unfortunately, their bliss didn’t last long, as Betsy Swain (Sydney Martin) caught wind of their antics and made her disapproval clear.
Determined to put her daughter first, Lisa ended things with Carla before they’d even begun, leaving the factory boss heartbroken.
Not satisfied with the end of their relationship, Betsy arranged to have Underworld robbed in order to punish Carla for replacing Becky, but was left fearful when the break-in left her hospitalised.
The attack on Carla left Lisa devastated, as she feared history was set to repeat itself, though she still refused to admit her true feelings.
When Roy Cropper (David Neilson) witnessed Carla’s disappointment at Lisa not visiting her ahead of her discharge from hospital, he went out of his way to try and talk some sense into Lisa.
He made it clear that he knew the women had feelings for each other, and that it was clear neither of them were happy with how things had turned out.
Lisa tried to explain that she needed to put Betsy first and, alongside her job, that didn’t leave time for anything else.
Roy didn’t hold back when he pointed out that Betsy would soon reach an age where she would be moving out, and Lisa would be left totally alone.
She was taken aback by his brutal honesty, but it soon became clear that his words had resonated with her when she paid a visit to Carla’s flat.
She wasted no time in getting straight to the point of admitting that she had feelings for her, and that she wanted to give things a go.
Carla was clearly stunned by her sudden change of heart, and was too conflicted to answer straight away.
With Lisa on edge, Carla admitted that she was frightened of letting her guard down only for Lisa to change her mind again.
However, when Lisa assured her that that wouldn’t happen and kissed her, Carla was won over.
When the couple broke the news to Betsy that they were making things official, she took it surprisingly well.
With Lisa out of the flat, Carla was quick to warn Betsy that if she tried anything again, there would be serious trouble, and the teen was grateful that Carla had no plans to tell Lisa what she’d done.
Is this the start of a long, happy relationship for Carla and Lisa, or will there be a rocky path ahead?
