Ask any Coronation Street fan what one of the most memorable scenes of the last three decades is, and there’s a high chance they will answer with the infamous street brawl of 2004 involving Gail Platt (Helen Worth) and Eileen Grimshaw (Sue Cleaver).

Well, those fans will be delighted to hear the ITV soap is revisiting their feud in the lead-up to Gail’s exit later this month.

Actress Helen Worth announced she was leaving the show after 50 years back in June, with her final scenes airing before the year is out.

Next week, Gail and her fiancée Jesse Chadwick (John Thomson) gather her family to announce some big news.

It sends shockwaves through the Platts, and later in the week, Gail tries to rally the troops with a night at the Rovers.

She insists that frenemy Eileen joins her and mum Audrey Roberts (Sue Nicholls), daughter Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien), granddaughter Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon) and daughter-in-law Shona Platt (Julia Goulding).

However, she soon regrets extending the invitation when Eileen takes every opportunity to poke fun at Gail as they take part in a quiz.

With a feud reignited, will Gail’s final weeks in Weatherfield be marred by her old rival?

Helen and Sue previously reflected on their characters’ feud back in 2021, recalling filming of their street brawl.

Appearing on This Morning together, Sue said: ‘While Helen is straddled over me, we said ”what a ridiculous way to pay the mortgage”.’
