Coronation Street legend arrested and she fails to return home after unexpected news
This article contains spoilers for tonight’s Coronation Street, which has not yet aired on TV but is available to watch now on ITVX.
Coronation Street icon Shona Platt (Julia Goulding) was left horrified in recent scenes when she finally learnt the true extent of David Platt’s (Jack P Shepherd) lies.
Shona was left devastated last month when she learnt that son Clayton had attempted suicide in prison, and couldn’t understand why the governor hadn’t been in contact to say that he was struggling.
Little did she know, the prison had been trying to get in contact with her and had sent countless visiting orders – but all attempts had been blocked by David.
In tonight’s episode, David finally came clean to Max Turner (Paddy Bever) about what he’d done – but not before Shona had taken it upon herself to confront the governor at the prison.
Max and Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson) arrived just as Shona lashed out at the governor, with Max forced to pull her away as she shoved him.
In a bid to stop her causing any more damage, Max revealed the truth about David’s lies, much to Shona’s horror.
After ordering David back home, she confronted him over his actions and he finally revealed the truth.
Poor Shona was completely devastated as she pointed out that Clayton would always be a part of her life, whether David liked it or not.
David urged her to remember how Clayton had treated her in the past, but Shona wouldn’t be swayed.
When Shona learnt that David had actually visited Clayton and told him that she wanted nothing to do with him, Shona was heartbroken and livid.

Their argument was soon interrupted by the arrival of DC Kit Green (Jacob Roberts), who promptly arrested Shona for her assault on the governor.
After being questioned, Shona was released, but made it clear to David that she wasn’t coming home.
Later, she pulled up in Steve’s taxi outside the Platts house, but soon changed her mind, insisting Steve drive her back into town as she had thought of a better way to spend the night.
Will Shona ever be able to forgive David for his betrayal?
