Former Coronation Street star Brooke Vincent’s son was left ‘absolutely mesmerised’ after watching clips of his mum on the ITV soap as a child.

The actress took over the role of Kevin and Sally Webster’s (Michael Le Vell and Sally Dynevor) youngest daughter Sophie Webster in 2004 when she was 12 years old.

She was sent on a serious nostalgia trip on Tuesday, when she was sent some videos of her younger self.

After coming along for the walk down memory lane, Brooke’s five-year-old son Mexx couldn’t get over seeing his mum on screen.

In a post on her Instagram Story, Brooke shared a scene featuring her on-screen mum Sally and sister Rosie (Helen Flanagan), writing: ‘My friends just sent me a video of me on Corrie when I was younger. Well Mexx is absolutely mesmerised.

‘We’re now 3 videos on he’s like, so is that your sister? Is that your mummy [sic].’

Brooke and her partner, footballer Kean Bryan, welcomed Mexx in October 2019 and she gave birth to their second son Monroe in May 2021.

The couple have been together since 2016 and they became engaged in 2022.

Brooke left Corrie when she went on maternity leave with Mexx in 2019, and later revealed she has no plans to return as she prioritises her family.

‘The hard thing about Corrie was that the hours aren’t a normal nine-to-five, or you couldn’t go part-time, or you couldn’t start after 10am,’ she told OK! magazine.

‘I didn’t want that to affect my time with my first baby. I thought while I was able to step away, I did, and I felt that was the best decision for me and my family at the time.’

She talks about her on screen daughters Rosie and Sophie, and how a hard-hitting breast cancer storyline coincided with her own battle with the illness.

She also has to consider where Kean’s football career might take the family, explaining: ‘It’s hard with Corrie because it’s set in Manchester and I don’t know where Kean’s going to be next season.

‘I don’t want to be in a situation where one of you has to stay in one place, and the other somewhere else, especially while the boys are so young.’

Since leaving Corrie, Brooke has appeared in a theatre adaptation of Kay Mellor’s hit BBC drama The Syndicate.

Earlier this year, she also featured in ITVBe reality series Drama Queens, which followed the real lives of some of the nation’s favourite soap stars.

Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 or stream first from 7am on ITVX.
