Carla Connor announces her love for Lisa Swain in Coronation Street – and gets a humiliating response
Carla Connor (Alison King) and Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) are totally smitten with each other after making their relationship official in Coronation Street – though unfortunately not everyone is as positive about it as they are.
In recent scenes, the couple overcame their first official lover’s tiff after Lisa let her jealousy get the better of her during one of Carla’s meetings.
When Lisa threatened to arrest the flirty client for sexual harassment, Carla made it clear that she wasn’t going to put up with that kind of behaviour, which prompted Lisa to open up about her insecurities.
As Lisa questioned whether Carla was embarrassed to be seen with her, Carla promised that from now on she will be open about their relationship – and that is exactly what is set to happen in upcoming scenes.
Things are tense between Lisa and Betsy Swain (Sydney Martin) when the detective finds a picture of Mason Radcliffe (Luca Toolan) on Betsy’s social media, which appears to have been taken in her bedroom.
Later, Lisa heads to the factory where Carla sticks to her promise, announcing her relationship with Lisa to the rest of the Underworld staff.
However, the happy moment leaves Lisa mortified when Betsy interrupts with a sarcastic remark.
Determined for them all to play happy families, Carla tries to salvage the afternoon by inviting Betsy to dinner with her and Lisa.
When Betsy arrives with Mason in tow, how will Lisa react?
It isn’t just Betsy that causes trouble over the festive season, as Lisa is also faced with a burst pipe which ends up flooding the flat.
Thankfully, Carla comes to the rescue by letting Lisa and Betsy stay in her flat for New Year.
As a thank you, Lisa organises a romantic lunch for the pair of them, but it is interrupted when she gets called to a major incident.
Bewildered Carla questions DC Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) about it, and is left concerned when he receives an urgent request for back up at the same location.
When Lisa returns, nursing a bruised face and split lip, she assures Carla that she’s fine, before heading to the Rovers to bring in the New Year.
As the countdown begins, Carla lets slip to Lisa that she loves her, but how will Lisa respond?
