David Platt (Jack P. Shepherd) has gone missing in Coronation Street after learning about wife Shona’s (Julia Goulding) affair.
It comes following a dramatic Christmas, with detective Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) – who slept with Shona earlier this year – alluding to the fling.
After weeks of suspecting that she was having an affair with his former brother-in-law Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson), David challenged him head on.
Hoping that a plying him with whiskey he swigged from a vodka bottle filled with water would be enough for him to confess, David was shocked when Adam confidently asserted that he hadn’t slept with Shona.
A vicious argument broke out on the balcony of the builder’s yard, and Adam took an almighty tumble down the staircase.
Luckily, he got away with very few injuries, and the bigger damage came from the ensuing confrontation between David and Shona.
She admitted that she had been unfaithful, and that she’d taken the morning after pill – which he’d discovered – to prevent a pregnancy.
Soon, Kit arrived to update Shona on Adam’s condition. David clocked the tension between them both, and Kit said that in future, he would have to ‘watch his back’ if David was a jealous person.
Kit then cemented that he was the one Shona slept with by saying she was a good woman.
In tonight’s episode, Shona frantically text her husband, who hadn’t returned home on Christmas night.
Wrongly assuming that Adam had played a part in his disappearance, she later confronted Kit and wondered whether he was responsible for David’s vanishing.
Kit was furious that she would suggest such a thing, and after previously warning off gangster Harvey Gaskell’s (Will Mellor) cronies, said that he would no longer protect him.
Shona charged off in the direction of his girlfriend Daisy Midgeley (Charlotte Jordan) and told her that they’d slept together.
Ouch.
She wasn’t pleased at all, having found out that she is expecting and that it could be his baby.
Returning home, Shona tried to contact her husband again, but there was no reply.
We saw David roaming the streets alone in his wedding suit, strolling past a homeless camp.
Will David be ok?
