Abi Webster (Sally Carman) will be reminded of the horrific way she lost her son Seb Franklin in Coronation Street soon, as she attempts to help Mason Radcliffe (Luca Toolan) after he’s stabbed.

Nina Lucas’ (Mollie Gallagher) boyfriend Seb was killed in 2021 after being attacked by a gang.

In the aftermath, Nina’s struggle with her mental health saw her become increasingly worried Asha Alahan’s (Tanisha Gorey) life would end up in danger as well.

The storyline was revisited earlier this year, when Abi discovered Corey Brent – the person who killed Seb – was taking part in a documentary about a prison football team.

‘She thinks about Seb all the time, but she was starting to get to that point where she could think about him and feel happy remembering him. Obviously there are moments where that’s not the case, but this has totally turned all of it on its head and she feels like she’s back to the day he was kicked to death by Corey,’ Sally Carman previously said of the sickening moment.

A few weeks later, Abi came face to face with Corey’s dad Stefan, who was responsible for creating deepfake pornographic videos of her.

In upcoming episodes, Mason will attempt to leave Weatherfield to get away from his brothers Matty and Logan.

Unfortunately, once the siblings are questioned by Kit (Jacob Roberts), they go in search of Mason and find him and Dylan (Liam McCheyne) at the precinct.

They give chase, but Matty and Logan catch up with Mason and attack him.

Moments later, Abi finds Mason and realises he’s been stabbed. She attempts to stem the flow of the blood with her scarf, buying a small amount of time until Asha and her paramedic colleague arrive.

Afterwards, the news of the stabbing is talk of Weatherfield.

As the police begin their investigation, Abi struggles to deal with what she witnessed and hearing a news report of the stabbing, she starts to believe it’s about Seb.

Concern continues to grow for Abi, as she takes her eyes off little Alfie while in the precinct, resulting in him disappearing.

When she finally sees Toyah (Georgia Taylor) walking along with him, Abi accuses her of abducting her son.

Back at home, Abi can’t tear her eyes away from Alfie, and it leaves Kevin (Michael Le Vell) fearful.

What’s next for her as Abi struggles to process this event?

‘We know we’re tackling a sensitive storyline, and it’s going to be very hard-hitting’, producer Kate Brooks said.

‘We have Mason at the centre of it and Dylan and Betsy are involved. It has massive ramifications for Abi, and for Tim and Sally going forward.

‘We just felt like it was a subject that we couldn’t ignore. It has big consequences for people going forward, and it isn’t a subject matter that we tackle lightly. It’s an important one to talk about and let young people know that carrying a bladed article is not the way.

‘It’s a real community story and a shocking one – I love the shock storytelling tactics. I think they work and they keep people guessing.

‘We’re telling the story in a very interesting way. It’s not your usual linear storytelling. It’s different and it’s bold, but I think it’s really impactful how we’re telling it.’
