Heartbreak for Stacey in EastEnders as Martin and Ruby reunite
Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner) is about to get her heart broken in EastEnders, following a New Year reunion for ex-husband Martin Fowler (James Bye) and Ruby Allen (Louisa Lytton).
The love triangle is in full swing, but sadly doesn’t go the way Stacey hoped.
The Walford legend has been harbouring her feelings towards Martin for some time, initially sparked after supporting him after the discovery he had a two year old son.
Ruby initially tried to pretend that she no longer had access to the child, though it actually transpired that the youngster – Roman – had been hospitalised, needing an organ transplant.
Martin began a scheme to get full custody, something which Stacey didn’t agree with and accidentally revealed to Ruby.
She told him that he’d never get his name on Roman’s birth certificate, and banned him from visiting the hospital.
Subsequently, it was discovered that his donor liver was unviable and Martin would have to step in, despite his reservations.
The fact that he was prepared to go under the knife for Roman was enough to repair their frosty relationship, and after being kicked out of her flat by a dodgy landlord, Ruby moved in with him – much to Stacey’s dismay.
Despite Martin’s insistence that there relationship was purely platonic, she challenged him to question his feelings and decide who he wanted in his life.
As Stacey poured her heart out to him, she didn’t realise that he’d fallen asleep on the sofa.
In tonight’s episode, Zack Hudson (James Farrar) was gearing up for a big night out to celebrate the New Year.
Martin seemed less interested, especially since he couldn’t drink following his operation. When Ruby approached and announced that she’d be spending the evening in hospital, he was suddenly riddled with guilt.
