EastEnders’ Reiss set to be caught out as Sonia gets smoking gun needed to take him down
This article contains spoilers for tonight’s episode of EastEnders, which airs tonight on BBC One at 7.30pm and is available to stream now on iPlayer.
Reiss Colwell (Jonny Freeman) looks set to finally get his comeuppance, asSonia Fowler (Natalie Cassidy) got her hands on some damning evidence.
Poor Son’ is so far blissfully unaware that her fiancé is in fact a killer, who allowed her to spend months behind bars awaiting trial for a murder he commited.
It was a case of wrong place, wrong time for everyone’s favourite NHS nurse – she was spotted at the scene of the crime around the time, and her DNA was found.
Despite leading the campaign for her release from prison, Reiss wasn’t prepared to admit the truth.
In nail-biting scenes, her sister Bianca Jackson (Patsy Palmer) discovered incriminating footage of him leaving Debbie’s care home and confronted him over the matter.
He came up with a quick plan – if she accompanied him to his storage lock-up, he’d give her the pillow he used to smother his wife Debbie and then go on the run.
A cruel twist soon followed when he slammed the door shut and chained Bianca to the wall, where she has now been for months.
Heavily pregnant Sonia began to realise that she should get a lesser sentence if she pleaded guilty, which forced Reiss to take further desperate measures.
He took Bianca up on her offer of recording a confession.
She hoped that it would free her from captivity, whilst also allowing her sister to return home.
The scheme worked, but Bianca is still trapped in the container and will probably never see the light of day again.
With Sonia released, questions have begun to be raised about whether Bianca was really capable of killing a woman.
Both Jack and Lauren Branning (Scott Maslen and Jacqueline Jossa) have raised doubts, forcing Sonia to question it herself.
Reiss told her that he had deleted the confession tape, but in tonight’s episode that all changed.
