EastEnders icon Adam Woodyatt spilled the beans on why he decided to shack up in a snazzy £93,000 motorhome after splitting from his wife.

The telly favourite, 56, and wife Beverley Sharp called it quits back in 2019, after over twenty years of marriage. This led Adam, who’s been the face of Ian Beale for decades, to set up camp “in a field in Devon” inside the comfy confines of a campervan.

He first bought the cozy home-on-wheels for a theatre tour around Blighty. However, after the split, he opted to make the move full-time, reports the Manchester Evening News.

Chatting on Dublin FM’s Big Breakfast in 2022, Adam got grilled about his unusual purchase. He quipped: “I’ve not just purchased it, I live in it.”

Radio star Rebecca Shekleton asked: “How do you find it?” Sliding in with a witty reply, Adam cracked: “It’s usually where I left it parked.”

He gushed further: “I love it, it wouldn’t suit everyone but where I am in my life at the moment, it’s perfect for me. I’ve got all my stuff for cooking, I’ve got my house on wheels.”

Adam dished out that the major issue of touring with his play was ditching his trusty mobile digs, which meant old-school suitcase packing. He explained: “Normally, my motorhome is my suitcase, I’ve got everything with me.”

Chatting to The Sun in 2021, Adam confided that dodging the drag of hotel life whilst on tour was the real motive behind snapping up the motorhome. He clarified: “I’ve got a motorhome ready for the tour so I won’t have to worry about staying in hotels or anything like that.”

Jumping into his new lifestyle with both feet, he said: “But I’ve taken advantage of it and I’m currently in a field in Devon.”

Adam split from Beverley, his wife, back in 2021 but they had gone their separate ways the year before. They have two adult kids, Jessica and Samuel.

According to OK!, Adam forked out a cool £93k for his snazzy motorhome. This isn’t just any old van – we’re talking about underfloor heating, a snug living space, and even a double bed, all in a 2.3-meter-wide package.

Fans of the star can tune in to his Saturday Kitchen appearance on BBC iPlayer now. He joined host Matt Tebbutt to celebrate EastEnders’ big 4-0 anniversary yesterday (February 8), alongside Diane Parish, Emma Barton and Jacqueline Jossa.
