An EastEnders fan has shared an absolutely wild theory concerning Cindy Beale’s (Michelle Collins) attacker.
Viewers have been anxiously waiting since Christmas Day to find out the mystery assailant’s identity, after soap queen Cindy was whacked around the head with a snow shovel.
After waking up from a medically induced coma, she has pointed her finger at pretty much everyone in her extended family, and honestly it wouldn’t surprise us if her old best pal Gita was blamed next.
Evidence is stacked against each member of the Beale and Knight families – and in every instalment we’re given some more damning clues as to who might be responsible.
Unfortunately, we have a little while longer to find out as the shocking truth won’t be unveiled until the BBC soap celebrates its 40th anniversary next week.
With tongues wagging as to who the culprit might be, one social media user has played armchair detective and played an unlikely Walford local in the spotlight – Priya Nandra-Hart (Sophie Khan Levy).
Sharing a carousel of evidence, TikTok user @shshsh_01 found two screenshots from recent episodes which seemed to drop hints.
The first of these shows Nugget (Juhaim Rasul Choudhury) telling his mum: ‘If you laid that on any thicker, you’d need a shovel.’
A second capture is of Priya asking Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt) for a drink in The Queen Vic, saying: ‘Oh, I’d murder a large glass of white wine.’
The viewer went onto ponder: ‘Did something happen [on] Christmas Day which lead Ravi to disappear in front of Priya and the kids to meet Denise, which lead her to find out about his drug dealing instead?’
As we’ve seen recently, Priya has warned Ravi Gulati (Aaron Thiara) to stay out of dodgy business for the sake of their children in the wake of his father Nish’s (Navin Chowdhry) death.
Regardless, he’s teamed up with Nicola Mitchell (Laura Doddington) to continue supplying the residents of Albert Square.
‘[Priya] would do anything to protect her family and surely wouldn’t want the father of her kids to be jailed again, so panicked and took matters into her own hands…’ the fan continued.
‘Was this the only way to get rid of Nicola and her contacts for good?’
Alongside a further screenshot of Cindy seconds before her attack, they added: ‘Could she have mistaken Cindy to be Nicola? The attacker hit from the back and only saw the blonde hair and long coat…’
More curiously, they noticed that on another occasion, Priya seemed to listen into a conversation between Cindy and Junior with a concerned look on her face.
‘When Cindy was talking to Junior about wanting to find out who it was, the camera went to Priya walking past, looking at them guilty or like she knew something..’ they said.
‘Ravi was conveniently seen at the same tree earlier that night… where Cindy fell to the ground…’
They also questioned whether Priya was telling the full truth to Nugget when she helped to cover evidence at the squat Nish was living at in the days prior to his death.
‘She’d know exactly how to hide and clean the murder weapon!’ they exclaimed.
‘She’s the one that suggested cleaning Nish’s flat of any proof in the New Year showdown… could she have done this before to the shovel?’
We’re just days away from finally finding out the truth, but for now, we’re loving the theories!
