EastEnders’ Roxy and Ronnie legends reuniting for major new show
It has been eight long years since EastEnders’ Roxy and Ronnie Mitchell were killed off in the soap – but now they have been reunited on a brand new project.
Actresses Rita Simons and Samantha Womack are set to appear together on new podcast They All Need Therapy.
Rita, who now plays Marie Fielding in Hollyoaks, is launching the show with her friend Nicki Gottlieb, with Samantha appearing as an occasional guest.
Rita announced news of the podcast, which is launching this spring, on her Instagram account, as she shared a throwback photo of her and Samantha in their roles as Ronnie and Roxy during a scene from Archie Mitchell’s (Larry Lamb) funeral.
She wrote: ‘Nothing like a good inappropriate barny at your dad’s funeral. (R&R not us!)
‘Give us a follow @theyallneedtherapy the podcast studio is nearly built! Here to dig out all the family dramas …the boundaries you’re gonna put in place, why you are gonna love your new villain era… when they don’t like your new boundaries! The hilarious side of menopause and the way we hacked our bodies!…
‘Come join me and my #wifeyforlifey @nickig77 and my #sisterfromanothermister @samzjanus will be popping in and out…as we vomit all the therapy on each other…’
‘But remember all our queens…it’s not you that needs therapy…it’s probably them #theyallneedtherapy #podcast dropping in spring #noapologies #letthem #nointernalfilter,’ she added.
Ronnie and Roxy were controversially axed in 2016, with fans left outraged at the decision to kill them off.
Both characters drowned in a hotel swimming pool on the day of Ronnie’s wedding to Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) on New Year’s Day 2017.

Viewers later started many a campaign to bring the iconic duo back, despite the sisters being dead.
Rita later revealed that she refused ‘point blank’ to film a scene in a coffin in the hope her character could one day return if fans had not technically seen Roxy’s body.
The actress made a surprise return to EastEnders in 2023 when Roxy appeared as a figment of daughter Amy Mitchell’s (Ellie Dadd) imagination during a therapy session.
