EastEnders fans clock Kathy Beale moment that made absolutely zero sense

While EastEnders fans were delighted to see Garry Hobbs (Ricky Groves) and Minty Peterson (Cliff Parisi) return to Walford yesterday, they couldn’t help notice a bit of a continuity error.

Best friends Garry and Minty headed back to Albert Square to surprise Billy Mitchell (Perry Fenwick) and Honey (Emma Barton) at their sten do.

During their original tenure, Garry and Minty were known for their series of comedic storylines, and proved to be real fan-favourites.

The locals were shocked to reunite with the pair, with Mo Harris (Laila Morse) reckoning they’d only shown up for the free booze.

One person among the group of residents stunned to see Garry and Minty again was Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth). Her face was an absolute picture as the two mates arrived in the pub, but fans of the BBC One soap have realised her reaction made little to no sense.

Given the two characters haven’t been seen since 2009 and 2010, Kathy has actually never met them.

This is because Kathy faked her own death in 2006, and didn’t ‘return’ until 2015.

Taking to social media platform X to point out this error, this user wrote: ’Why was kathy pulling that face she was atleast 4 years into her grave when they left!’.

‘Now Kathy, you are acting all surprised, but you have never met Minty or Gary a day in your life’, another penned.

Another echoed the point and shared: ‘The way Kathy looked all surprised and was open-mouthed, you’d think she actually knew Minty and Garry. Meanwhile she was busy playing dead.’

In tonight’s episode of the BBC One soap, concern continued to grow for Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) after Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean) realised he wasn’t around.

The beloved character was completely alone struggling with his depression, which led to him experiencing hallucinations of his mum Peggy, played by Jaime Winstone.

His ordeal ended when the present day version of Nigel Bates (Paul Bradley) woke Phil up.

He announced that he had invited someone over to try and help his mate, who turned out to be Phil’s brother Grant (Ross Kemp).
