Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean) will be forced to do as she’s told in EastEnders later this week when she realises that Nicola Mitchell (Laura Doddington) has uncovered her not-so-little secret.
The Walford matriarch, as viewers know, cheated on Teddy (Roland Manookian) with former flame Grant (Ross Kemp) during his fleeting visit to the Square last month.
Branding the moment of passion with her 90’s lover a ‘mistake’, Sharon was determined to keep a lid on her one night stand for fear that it would negatively impact Phil’s (Steve McFadden) recovery.
But the situation was take out of her hands earlier this week Barney (Lewis Bridgeman) overheard her confiding in Zack Hudson (James Farrar) about her liaison with Grant.
Zack did his utmost to keep Barney quiet but things took an unexpected turn when the teen was rushed to hospital after his wound from the Queen Vic explosion started to bleed.
The barman was later left reeling to discover that Barney is his biological son, with ex-flame Nicola confirming such a thing during a heated showdown at the hospital.
Zack urged the fiery Mitchell matriarch her to tell the truth, making it clear that it’s the right thing to do, which left Nicola fearing that she was losing control of the situation.
The tables would soon turn, however, as the Harry’s Barn owner would subsequently acquire the upper hand after learning about Sharon’s one night stand with Grant from her youngest son.
Sporting a devilish grin, the cogs started to whir as Nicola had the smoking gun she needed to stop Zack spilling the beans.
Upcoming scenes will see Nicola use this newfound piece of information to her advantage during a get-together at No. 1, as seen in the new pictures from Thursday’s (March 6) episode.
Sharon believes that she has the upper hand – that is until Nicola plays her trump card, rendering the Walford icon speechless.
Will Nicola’s efforts prove successful?
Will Sharon – and Zack – agree to keep shtum about Barney’s paternity in exchange for silence about her night of passion with Grant?
Or will they ultimately decide that, despite everything, Barney deserves to know who his dad is.
It’s all getting juicily complicated.
Nicola, as viewers know, would love nothing more than to tear Sharon and Teddy apart given that she’s still holding a candle for her former flame but right now it seems keeping Barney’s paternity a secret is more important to her than a reunion either her ex.
