Danny Dyer gives ‘son-in-law’ Jarrod Bowen permission to join two clubs with brutal Arsenal dig

West Ham supporter Danny Dyer has a strong connection to the Irons with his soon-to-be son-in-law Jarrod Bowen captaining the side, and he does not want to see the star's exit

Danny Dyer has rubbished the idea of Jarrod Bowen moving to Arsenal, but suggested he would accept his prospective son-in-law departing for two clubs.

Bowen is currently engaged to Dyer’s daughter, Dani, and has two children with his fiance. That relationship has come with the love and affection of West Ham United die-hard Dyer.

The Irons signed Bowen from Hull City in a deal worth more than £20million, and he’s since become an icon for the side having helped them to a European trophy. The 28-year-old has forged an impressive reputation and broken into the England squad in that time, and as a result has been linked with some big transfers.

Dyer is not ready to easily accept an exit from the London Stadium for Bowen however. The former EastEnders and Football Factory star admitted he could begrudgingly accept some moves, but certainly not one to Arsenal.

“He’s never going to do that, why would he? What’s in it for him?” Dyer told talkSPORT.

Eager to test Dyer’s limits, host Andy Goldstein then asked whether Real Madrid would be a suitable destination. The 47-year-old said: “He’s got to go then, hasn’t he? Real Madrid? Yeah, for sure.”

Dyer was less keen on another London-centric suggestion. Asked about Chelsea, he retorted: “Why would he go there?”

But, asked whether a transfer to Manchester City would be acceptable, Dyer could only begrudgingly say yes. “Listen, it’s his career,” he said. “City? I wouldn’t mind that, I’d suffer that.

“I’m not going to lie, it would hurt, but he’s a grown man and he makes his own decisions. It would obviously hurt, but of course I would be over the moon for him.”

Bowen is next set to feature for West Ham on Monday night against Newcastle and is in fine form since returning last month from a foot injury. The forward has bagged goals against Arsenal and Chelsea, and boss Graham Potter will hope for more against the Magpies.

“Jarrod has been fantastic,” Potter said . “ I think when you have a number of weeks off, it’s hard to expect that you’re going to be in absolutely top form from the first or second game.

“For him, he’s contributed to the team in a good way but I think there is still room for him as well to improve, so that’s exciting for us and for him because he’s still been a huge influence on the team. To have him on the pitch for us is massive.

“It’s credit to him and how he has conducted himself through the rehab process that he’s come back in such a good way but I think he’ll get better and better with more rhythm, more games and more training but we’ve been delighted with him.”
