‘Let’s see what you got!’ EastEnders star expertly shuts down soap snobs
EastEnders star Shiv Jalota had a few things to say to those who criticise soaps.
The Vinny Panesar actor, 30, has been part of the Albert Square family for five years.
In his latest post on Twitter/X Shiv clapped back at ‘snobs’ giving ‘shade’ to the TV genre.
‘I’ll never understand the snobbery around Soaps,’ he penned.
‘We work at such a pace, amount of prep, lack of time, million and 1 variables on set and off, cast crew production work off pure instinct its MAGIC.
‘Any person giving shade, jump in the drivers seat let see what you got.’
Shiv’s comments was met with support from fans, with @EveSukiEE replying: ‘This this THIS!
‘The amount of horrible comments like “abysmal show” just makes my blood boil. You are all human just like the rest of us and you all work your a***s off to portray your characters.’
@kev_andrew added: ‘A big budget Netflix show can take 2-3 years between seasons only to deliver 6-8 episodes. Soaps deliver 4-6 episodes a week! The production quality might be different but the storytelling, writing and acting is often on similar levels. British soaps are machines!’
EastEnders star Shiv recently confirmed an ‘endgame’ for dying Nish Panesar (Navin Chowdhry), as he ‘treasures every second’ of working with the iconic villain.
The Vinny Panesar actor stopped to chat with Metro at this years Inside Soap Awards, alongside co-stars Aaliyah James and Sophie Khan Levy, all about the dramatic storyline that is currently playing out.
Earlier this year, Nish returned to Albert Square and announced that he was dying, and the family have been at odds ever since.
More recently, Nish turned on son Vinny after uncovering his and Suki Panesar’s (Balvinder Sopal) plan to get their hands on his inheritance, and very nearly ended up dead after suffering a medical emergency in front of his seething ex-wife.
Speaking about the storyline and what is still to come, Shiv said: ‘I think it’s so beautiful, all of us have such a great off-screen relationship so everybody brings their own different energy and vibes for the different characters.
‘We know there’s an endgame for Nish and we’re working towards that so we’re treasuring every moment that we have. It’s a lot of fun and can be intense. Navin’s not like his character at all, he’s lovely. It’s such a beautiful dynamic I’d say.’
