EastEnders actress Louisa Lytton has teased a dramatic return for Ruby Allen.

The star, 35, was confirmed to be arriving back in the BBC soap in September – and we know that it will have huge consequences for Martin Fowler (James Bye).

She was last seen on-screen in 2021, when Ruby was sent to prison after being wrongly accused by the Slater family of running a cannabis farm.

Shortly before her exit, she claimed to be pregnant with Martin’s child, but he refused to believe her after discovering all of the lies Ruby told that led to Stacey going to prison.

We now know that this is true – as she was an old cellmate of Chrissie Watts (Tracy-Ann Oberman), who informed Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean) that she was transferred to give birth.

Upon her return, she’s bound to stir the pot once again!

‘That’s Ruby’s character – she comes in and ruffles feathers, does the wrong thing and says the wrong thing, and she definitely comes back with a lot of drama’ Louisa explained.

‘But now she’s a mum, she does have her priorities in order.’

She continued to The Sun’s TV Mag: ‘Although she’ll still make mistakes, I don’t think she’ll go out of her way to make mistakes or make wrong decisions like she has done in the past.

‘Being a mum has finally given Ruby a purpose in life, which I think has been something that’s been missing for a long time.’
Louisa is another name in the long-list of characters that have returned this year in the lead up to the show’s 40th Anniversary celebrations in February.

‘I’ve been a part of this show for 20 years now, so it feels right for Ruby to come back’ she added.

‘I feel like there’s so much we need to wrap up with her. There’s so many characters that she has a history with.’
