EastEnders legend Danny Dyer has been spotted filming some dramatic scenes ahead of his TV return.

The actor was spotted by fans in Canvey this weekend, and was pictured with fake blood on his face, hinting to some dramatic scenes.

Speaking to the Basildon, Canvey and Southend Echo, Canvey resident Tom Farrell explained how he met Danny alongside his adorable pooch, Barney.

‘I first spotted a film crew at 10.30am, I had a brief chat with them about filming and moved up the slope to the sea exit gate and again conversed with further film crew members,’ he told the publication.

‘I then chatted about Dan and the filming of his TV show, Mr Bigstuff, and asked when it was due.

‘He embraced me and we chatted about TV, football and his family, he thanked me for his kind comments relating to his daughter Dani Dyer and Jarrod Bowen,’ he enthused, before adding that Danny was ‘an extremely delightful chap to meet’.

Series one of Mr Bigstuff follows carpet salesman Glen, played by actor and writer Ryan Sampson, in his seemingly perfect life with fiancé Kirsty (Harriet Webb) – until Danny’s character Lee comes crashing in, running from a past that is catching up with him.

Speaking to Metro ahead of the release of the first series, Danny and Ryan revealed how keen they were for a second series.

‘We’re almost praying [for a second series], because you couldn’t end it there,’ Danny told us.

‘You can go where you want with these characters. They’re all very loveable, they’re all flawed, they’ve all got their issues.

‘But I think this is just the beginning of this, and I’m very intrigued to see what Ryan comes up with next. No pressure!

‘And also, it would just be nice to get another series out of it. It would be a real shame if it didn’t happen again. I just don’t think that’s the full stop on it.’
