Natalie Cassidy addresses TV star’s famous impression of her
EastEnders legend Natalie Cassidy has addressed comedian Morgana Robinson’s incredible impression of her.
Natalie, 41, has appeared as Sonia Fowler in the BBC soap intermittently since 1993, though is currently on a break from the long-running show.
Poor Son’ has been sent down for a murder she didn’t commit – blissfully unaware that her fiancé Reiss Colwell (Jonny Freeman) was the man responsible!
To make matters worse, in her absence he’s kidnapped her sister Bianca Jackson (Patsy Palmer) and is currently keeping her hostage inside of a storage container.
Whilst away from Albert Square, Natalie has been able to focus on a number of other projects, including her BBC Sounds podcast Off The Telly, which she hosts with Gavin and Stacey icon Joanna Page.
In the latest episode, they discuss topics such as I’m a Celebrity and ITVX drama Joan, though the topic of conversation soon changed to Morgana Robinson’s killer impression of Natalie.
The spoof version was first performed in 2010, in Channel 4 mockumentary The Morgana Show. She revived the caricature in 2012’s Very Important People.
‘Which I don’t really care about, but you go “That makes you a bit famous, that.”
‘But she did do some absolutely brilliant things. It was whilst I wasn’t in Eastenders, so her sketch was “What was Natalie doing?”‘
Joanna burst into laughter adding: ‘You do a really good impression, of an impression.’
In 2016, she played Natalie again, alongside a host of famous names such as Fearne Cotton and Cheryl Cole, in BBC Two comedy The Agency.
She also reprised the role for two episodes of 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown, appearing in Dictionary Corner.
