EastEnders fans ‘work out’ 40th anniversary death – and it would be massive
Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth) was terrified in last night’s episode of EastEnders as she watched son Ian (Adam Woodyatt) experience an angina attack.
The iconic character spent the majority of the instalment rushing around feeling stressed. He had a lot to do at Beale’s Eels in time for the Christmas lights switch on in the Square.
When Ian dashed home, he found Kathy sorting some mince pies. Stressed, Ian took over, but ended up knocking the tray on the floor.
Just as he bent down to pick them up, Ian paused and clutched his chest. He told his mum that something was wrong, and they went to the hospital.
There, the doctor explained to Kathy that Ian had suffered an angina attack. At first, Ian didn’t really take the news seriously and joked about taking it easy by drinking herbal tea and going swimming. The doctor then warned Ian and said this is a life or death situation.
Ian told Kathy that no-one can know about his hospital trip but if he doesn’t look after himself, could this storyline be revisited soon?
Taking to social media platform X, fans of the BBC One soap couldn’t help but wonder if Ian’s angina attack last night was foreshadowing something deadly either at Christmas, or for the 40th anniversary.
‘They’d never be so bold as to kill Ian off #EastEnders’, one fan wondered.
Another wrote online: ’So they brought ian back so they can make him a ticking time bomb to death #eastenders.’
We know Christmas will see Cindy Beale’s (Michelle Collins) affair with Junior Knight (Micah Balfour) exposed in spectacular fashion – could this be enough for Ian to suffer another heart attack, only this time it’s fatal?
Or will the character, who first arrived when the show launched in 1985, face a deadly ordeal during the anniversary in February?
