Emmerdale’s Beth Cordingly updates fans from China during reunion with real-life partner
Emmerdale actress Beth Cordingly has reunited with her real-life soap star partner Ian Kelsey in China.
The star, who plays Ruby Fox-Miligan in the ITV soap, has been in a relationship for three years with Ian, who previously appeared as Dave Glover in the village between 1994 and 1996.
One of his biggest storylines saw him embark on a steamy affair with the formidable Kim Tate (Claire King), before going on to marry Kathy Bates (Malandra Burrows).
The pair have been forced to spend time apart in recent months, as Ian has been back and forth from China, where he is appearing in the musical Chicago.
Earlier this month Beth shared an emotional screenshot of a FaceTime call as they celebrated his birthday – albeit virtually.
Beth previously revealed that Ian was ‘very supportive’ when she landed her Emmerdale role, telling Metro that he gave her some words of wisdom: ‘He told me not to bump into the furniture, which I do regularly!’.
During the last few days, she’s shared a number of Instagram posts of their reunion.
The first of these showed her exploring the area, as she excitedly wrote: ‘Adventures in Xi’an. Let’s go find LET’S RELAX spa!!! On my own in chinaaaaaaa! Woo hoo. Come with me.’
Another video, this time uploaded by Ian, was captioned: ‘Someone came to visit.’ He can be seen walking along a street as Beth jumps up behind him.
One fan commented: ‘Aww look at you two! Nice to see that Ian has that twinkle in his eyes back again!’
Further updates from the loved up pair showed them visiting a jazz club, and Beth wearing Ian’s character Billy Flynn’s costume.
Earlier this month, Beth was forced to deny claims she was leaving the ITV soap.
Posting on Instagram, she said: ‘Loads of people keep contacting me and saying, “Oh I hear you’re leaving the show”.
‘There’s some sort of fake news article going round saying all sorts of stuff. For the record, if I’m allowed to say this, I’m not leaving the show at the moment – as far as I know – I’m having a really lovely time.
‘I adore my job, and I definitely don’t feel I’ve been mistreated by any producers. I’m being treated very well and I’m having a lovely time.’
Her character Ruby is currently embroiled in a huge storyline, following the return of her dad Anthony (Nicholas Day).
Clearly shaken by his presence, viewers discovered that Anthony had sexually abused Ruby as a child through a series of flashback scenes, and she’s kept the ordeal a secret ever since.
A New Year trailer has revealed that Anthony may soon expose her affair with Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley), and that she is having doubts over the parentage of daughter Steph (Georgia Jay).
