Emmerdale fans ‘work out’ death twist after flashfoward to Cain Dingle funeral scene
Emmerdale viewers are convinced they have worked out the identity of who dies within the next 12 months after the ITV soap released a dark trailer for the New Year
Emmerdale fans reckon they’ve sussed out who’s set to meet a grisly end in the soap’s upcoming episodes as a series of flashforwards are set to offer a sneak peek into the future.
The chilling teaser, which begins with the villagers counting down to midnight at The Woolpack, hinted at several grim departures. This comes ahead of New Year’s Eve (December 31), when the ITV soap will showcase five shocking flashforward scenes that will tantalise and tease fans with a glimpse of what’s in store for the Dales in 2025. The trailer has already been released to the public.
The flashforwards are mixed in with the pub celebrations, and in the first one, Mackenzie Boyd is seen sprinting through the woods while Caleb Milligan appears to be in grave danger as he lies in a hospital bed on a ventilator before an unknown character is shown flatlining. Cain Dingle is also depicted standing by a freshly dug grave, confirming a funeral has just occurred.

He is seen dressed in a suit having attended the service while crying at the graveside and there’s also what seems to be a murder as a body wrapped in dark sheets is dumped into a river. The trailer concludes with another potential death as a mystery character is trapped under ice, their hand pressed against the solid ceiling above them.
Fans believe they have figured out two of the possible deaths, reports the Manchester Evening News. Emmerdale fans reckon Leyla Harding might just be the ice-trapped victim after whispers of Roxy Shahidi waving goodbye to the soap circulated earlier in 2024.

Twitter, now known as X, is abuzz with speculations, with one fan stating: “Am sure thats leyla in the water.” Another is placing bets with: “I think Leyla is in that water then she dies.” A third person added:: “The hand at the end I think is Leyla.” Meanwhile, a fourth person is pondering: “Leyla the one in the ice? #Emmerdale.”
As for the mystery funeral Cain finds himself at, theories are flying wild. Someone else said: “OMG! Whose grave is Cain at? Nate’s, Mack’s or is it Caleb he has flatlined?”

The plot thickens as another viewer added: “My time has come. Right so the grave is Nate, Moira did it and John covered it up. This is what happened.” Seeking clarity, another probed: “Cain stood at a grave I’m saying Nate maybe? #Emmerdale.” Someone else said: “I think Cain might be at Nate’s grave, he’s been deceased this whole time #Emmerdale.”
