Beth Cordingly back home after ‘magical experience’ with real-life partner who is an Emmerdale legend

Emmerdale star Beth Cordingly has bid farewell to her real-life soap partner Ian Kelsey after a ‘magical’ trip to China.

The actress, who plays Ruby Fox-Miligan in the ITV soap, is in a relationship with Ian, who is no stranger to Emmerdale fans having previously appeared as Dave Glover between 1994 and 1996.

The pair, who have been together for three years, have been forced to spend time apart in recent months, as Ian has been back and forth from China, where he is appearing in a production of the musical Chicago.

Beth jetted out to China to spend New Year with Ian and landed back home on Sunday, revealing it would not be long before they were reunited once more.

Posting a picture of herself at the airport, Beth wrote: ‘Home. Now just got 9 days for @iankelseyofficial to finish up and do the same. Off to hug my kid and my cat. #adventures #china #home ps. Where the f is my bag???’

In another post, Beth shared a series of snaps saying goodbye to Ian and some of the friends she’d made on the trip.

She wrote: ‘Saying goodbye to China… And him… (again!). And to these beautiful new friends… but so grateful for the magical experience that China has been for a little week that has felt like a glorious pop of life. #china #goodbye.

‘More to come. X I’ll share more of our China adventure soon,’ she added.

Beth’s Emmerdal character Ruby is currently at the centre of a huge storyline, following the return of her dad Anthony (Nicholas Day).

Clearly shaken by his presence, viewers discovered that Anthony had sexually abused Ruby as a child through a series of flashback scenes, and she’s kept the ordeal a secret ever since.

Meanwhile, a New Year trailer has revealed that Anthony may soon expose her affair with Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley), and that she is having doubts over the parentage of daughter Steph (Georgia Jay).

Last month, Beth was forced to deny claims she was leaving the ITV soap after fans contacted her about a ‘fake news article going round’.

Posting on Instagram, she said: ‘For the record, if I’m allowed to say this, I’m not leaving the show at the moment – as far as I know – I’m having a really lovely time.’
