Beth Cordingly makes Emmerdale return after break from Ruby child abuse storyline
Emmerdale favourite Beth Cordingly has returned to filming following a break amid her character Ruby Fox-Miligan’s heartbreaking historic sexual abuse storyline.
The star, 48 – who joined the show last year – has been at the centre of several huge storylines, with it being confirmed at the end of last year that Ruby had been abused by her father Anthony (Nicholas Day).
Flashback scenes gave us a glimpse as to why she had such a strong reaction to his arrival in the village, when we were taken back to her childhood.
In shocking scenes, Anthony entered her bedroom and explained they were now alone in the house.
Through his charming demeanour we’ve seen him slot himself into family life, much to his daughter’s horror.
Recent scenes have shown Ruby’s distress at the prospect of Anthony being the father to her daughter Steph (Georgia Jay), and not husband Caleb (William Ash).
Following a brave conversation with Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter), she ordered a DNA test to finally learn the truth.
Over Christmas, Beth took a break from the ITV soap to reunite with her real-life soap star partner Ian Kelsey in China.
Ian, 58, previously appeared as Dave Glover in the dales between 1994 and 1996.
One of his most memorable stories saw him engage in a steamy fling with the iconic and incomparable Kim Tate (Claire King), before going on to marry Kathy Bates (Malandra Burrows).
The couple have been apart from some time, as Ian is currently starring as Billy Flynn in a production of Chicago in the East Asian country.
They shared heartwarming updates to social media over the festive period of their time together, with Beth writing: ‘Adventures in Xi’an. Let’s go find LET’S RELAX spa!!! On my own in chinaaaaaaa! Woo hoo. Come with me.’
Ian wrote: ‘Someone came to visit.’ He can be seen walking along a street as Beth jumps up behind him.
Yesterday, upon arriving back in the UK, she posted a number of videos documenting her return to Emmerdale.
From a train, she took pictures of her scripts, writing: ‘Ooh. Hello Leeds… this can only mean one thing…’
She continued: ‘Tanned, makeup, a blow dry… Hello Emmerdale.’
