Viewers believe they know when and how Leyla Harding will die on Emmerdale, ahead of her sad exit from the ITV soap.

Reports emerged last year that Leyla actress Roxy Shahidi had quit the role after 16 years, and that her character would die in upsetting scenes. Nothing more was shared, with the soap not even confirming the exit or the looming demise.

But more recent reports claimed her exit would be tied in with a devastating car crash. Then, a flashforward clip aired on the show revealed an ice stunt, with a mystery character shown trapped underneath a lake that had frozen over.

Amid a mystery hand shown banging on the ice with someone trying to break free, new spoilers released by the ITV soap have confirmed what leads to this eerie moment. It’s said multiple lives could be on the line as a car crashes into an icy lake.

While previous spoilers teased a night out for some villagers would take a deadly turn, in events set to change the village forever, the new details confirm that more than one character will face death as the car ploughs into the frozen lake. Pictures from filming show a car wedged into the ice, with the doors seemingly trapped shut.

So does this mean the person or people trapped under the ice in the flashforward are the victim or victims of the crash? Could it be someone who jumps in to try and save the injured?

It’s yet to be confirmed who is involved, and how many characters it will impact. There has also been zero mention of whether Leyla is caught up in the disaster, and if she perishes in this plot.

But fans believe they have already solved the case regarding who dies and what happens to Leyla. Viewers are convinced she will be in the crash and sadly lose her life, with some fearing she will be the character trapped under the ice.

Taking to X, one viewer said: “Is this Leyla’s demise?” Another fan posted: “I think that it’s Leyla and she’s trapped and this is how she dies,” as a third said: “That’s Leyla very likely done for-please don’t let Jacob be on duty at the hospital when this happens!”

Roxy’s exit as Leyla was revealed last year with a source telling The Sun: “Roxy has adored her time on the soap and has made so many happy memories since first joining. The cast have become like family to her and she has grown so much as an actress, but now feels like the perfect time to spread her wings and try something new. She is really excited about her meaty exit storyline, which will see her character Leyla die on screen. She’d rather go out in a blaze of glory and be remembered.”
