Joe Tate (Ned Porteous) made an announcement to Dawn Taylor (Olivia Bromley) in last night’s episode of Emmerdale amid a developing affair.
The two characters slept together this week after Dawn attempted to confront Joe about her new job. In the aftermath, Joe and Dawn spoke about their pasts, with Dawn revealing her history as a drug addict.
Shortly after this happened, Joe headed out to meet Noah Dingle (Jack Downham) at the pub. Because he is also having health problems, Joe experienced symptoms so severe it made him crash his car into a ditch.
Fortunately, he was found by Dawn, who also spotted the painkillers in the vehicle.
At first, Joe claimed that he does not have an addiction to the medication he’s been taking. He said he consumes tablets whenever he suffers terrible headaches, but Dawn wasn’t too convinced.
In last night’s episode, the mystery surrounding Joe continued. He was on the phone talking to someone and admitting he’s incredibly tired, but remained unaware Kim Tate (Claire King) was listening to him via a recording device.
Later, following a visit to the pub, Joe got back and wondered where Dawn had gone. Kim said she was upstairs and as he left, she set about getting her laptop once more, ready to eavesdrop.
Frustratingly for her, Joe found Dawn in the nursery, which meant she didn’t hear a single thing. Inside, Joe told Dawn that he had organised a meeting with someone to talk about his addiction.
Dawn was pleased he had started getting help and soon enough, they were gazing into each other’s eyes preparing to kiss.
The look on Joe’s face proved he was disappointed with what Dawn had to say. He then announced he’d be going away for a few days for a business trip, and could stay away for longer if Dawn wanted.
She didn’t say anything, so Joe took that as a yes.
