Emmerdale legend makes big decision as she falls apart over murder secret
Recovering alcoholic Laurel Thomas (Charlotte Bellamy) very nearly fell off the wagon in last night’s episode of Emmerdale.
A few days ago, Laurel attacked sex abuser Anthony Fox (Nicholas Day) after finding him violently confronting friend Nicola King (Nicola Wheeler). The split-second decision saw Laurel hit Anthony with a candlestick, which resulted in him falling to the floor.
Afterwards, a stumbling Anthony left the house and threatened to report Laurel and Nicola to the police if they continued spreading information about him being a danger to children.
Anthony was killed a few days later but because Laurel and Nicola don’t know this, it’s left them in a state of limbo. They know he has disappeared from the village, but Laurel believes it’ll only be a matter of time until he reports them.
Nicola, however, has a slightly different view. Because Laurel hit Anthony to save her, and they cleaned the scene of the crime afterwards, Nicola thinks neither of them would face any severe consequences.
She has reassured her friend multiple times, but last night’s episode proved Laurel is facing an arduous battle internally.
When Nicola popped by, she was taken aback to find Laurel sorting out an awful lot of shopping. She alluded to panic buying in case something happens to her, which left Nicola worried.
A while later, Charles Anderson (Kevin Mathurin) spotted Laurel outside the church. He helped by reminding Laurel of the importance in talking, but she feared she’d say too much if she got the opportunity to open up.
That afternoon, Laurel stood in her kitchen holding a bottle of vodka. She opened it and came close to taking a sip, but then tipped it down the drain.
The look on Laurel’s face proved she is close to being at rock bottom.
Is it only a matter of time until she relapses and starts drinking again?
