Marlon Dingle (Mark Charnock) was left in a complete and utter panic in tonight’s episode of Emmerdale as he learnt the rumour about Anthony Fox (Nicholas Day).

A few days ago, Laurel Thomas (Charlotte Bellamy) attacked Anthony after finding him confronting Nicola King (Nicola Wheeler). As he woke up, Anthony told Laurel and Nicola that he’d report them to the police if they carried on spreading ‘false information’ about him being a danger to children.

Anthony was killed by Ruby Fox-Miligan (Beth Cordingly) but Laurel and Nicola have no idea about this. As a result of not knowing why he suddenly disappeared from the village, it left Laurel in a paranoid state that something terrible had happened to the old man, and she was responsible.

Yesterday, Laurel went to the police station and said she believes she killed a man. In tonight’s episode, she told Nicola she had been let go under caution, but the report meant the police had to visit Mill Cottage.

As the two friends observed the police car, Bob Hope (Tony Audenshaw) approached and wondered what was going on. Laurel snapped and he immediately recognised that something was up, so he encouraged her to start talking.

At her home, Laurel told Bob absolutely everything about Anthony, including the fact she got told about him being a child abuser.

Bob then arrived at the pub. He was meeting up with Marlon, Rhona Goskirk (Zoe Henry), Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt) and Ross Barton (Michael Parr) ahead of more searching for missing April Windsor (Amelia Flanagan).

Bob stopped them from going because he said he had some news. He felt it was important to tell the group about Anthony, in case there’s a chance he is connected to April.

Marlon convinced himself of this and went to Laurel’s, hoping for more information. Nicola told Marlon that Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter) had informed them about Anthony, prompting him to then leave and return to the pub.

Because Chas knows what really happened to Anthony, she had to tell Marlon that she got the wrong end of the stick. The beloved face, who desperately wants some information about April’s whereabouts, then decided he’d just contact the police instead.

Caleb dashed after him and said Anthony had left the village after the rumour about him began.

As a father himself, Caleb reassured Marlon by saying that he wouldn’t let Anthony in his house if the gossip was true.

It was enough for Marlon to stop going to the police but as he sat down, he told Mary Goskirk (Louise Jameson) and Rhona that something doesn’t sit quite right about Anthony and why he left the village.

Will anyone else find out what really happened to him?
