Emmerdale will air a special episode dedicated to April Windsor’s disappearance as fears grow for the missing teen.

April disappeared from Marlon and Rhona’s home back at Christmas, where she was seen getting into a mysterious car. There had been fears she was dead when a young girl holding April’s purse was found stabbed. However, it was quickly established that wasn’t April and she was still missing – but where was she and what happened to her?

Marlon and Rhona get some big news next week when PC Swirling arrives with some news for the pair about April’s whereabouts, but with it yet to be confirmed whether she’s alive or not – what will they find out?

April’s last few weeks will be shared in a special episode of Emmerdale

A special episode will air on Tuesday February 4, where viewers will learn about April’s heartbreaking story and her time on the streets. The standalone episode will see April struggling to find somewhere to stay, whilst the terrifying ordeal of what she has faced on the streets is revealed – but will April be alive, or did something even more tragic happen?

Emmerdale producer Laura Shaw shared: “April’s flashback episode is a heartbreaking depiction of life on the street as a teenage girl. Continuing to take guidance from the fabulous team at Missing People, it was incredibly important that we didn’t shy away from the agonising journey that April would go through and their help was invaluable in making sure the episode has the authenticity required. Amelia Flanagan’s outstanding performance makes this arguably, one of Emmerdale’s stand out episodes of this year and promises to start a new journey for the character of April, forever changed by her time living on the city streets.”

The true harrowing ordeal April went through will be revealed

It comes after actor Mark Charnock – who plays Marlon Dingle – seemingly hinted more about April’s fate.

Mark said of the special episode: “It’s incredible and she’s incredible in it and it fills in all the gaps the audience have had so far. I’m really proud of the show for doing it. I think it’s a wonderful piece of drama that’s going to be really significant going forward. You see the alternate life that she’s been living that will come to be a major problem for him going forward because he can’t comprehend it.”

Hinting April will be alive and return to the Dales, he added: “It’s not straightforward; it’s almost being like missing in your house. The old them has gone. I think the good thing about it is that it’ll reunite the family because they’re all at a level playing field trying to make it work for her. They’re all treading on egg shells – it’s not just Marlon – and I was saying before, it’s like they’ve been searching this human haystack and now they’ve got the needle back, it’s just a different being.”
