Emmerdale has released an explosive trailer teasing newcomer John Sugden’s arrival with a second link revealed.
Spoilers for next week see Victoria Sugden stunned when she learns about a secret family member. In the upcoming scenes, Eric Pollard’s car breaks down and he’s unable to attend an old friend’s funeral. Instead of leaving him stranded, Victoria kindly offers to drive him there.
However, once at the church, it’s not long until Victoria accidentally puts her foot in it with the bereaved son at his mum’s funeral, but she is left further stunned to learn his name is John Sugden. Later, Eric awkwardly confirms that John could actually be her half brother and her late father Jack Sugden’s son.
In a twist of fate, it’s not long before back in the village, Mackenzie Boyd receives a call at the garage about a breakdown nearby and it turns out to be John. Eric and Victoria are surprised to find John in the village and it’s not long until the newcomer is ruffling a few feathers with his appearance in the village. It was revealed earlier this month that Oliver Farnworth has been cast as the brooding and mysterious John Sugden.
And now Emmerdale has released an explosive new trailer teasing John’s arrival as he is seen with Victoria in a field before Aaron Dingle is spotted to which John gives him a menacing glare. A voiceover teases: “A new Sugden is coming to Emmerdale…”
Soap watchers will recall that Aaron was married to Robert Sugden but the latter left the show back in 2019 after being sent to prison over the death of Lee Posner. Robert accidentally caused Lee’s death after he attacked him, following Lee horrifically raping his sister Victoria. Robert faced up to his crime and cut all ties with the village and his loved ones as he was sentenced.
But viewers have long hoped he may return, especially after hints that Robert may not have caused his death. Lee obtained injuries to his head when he was punched, but it emerged Lee had also been hit by his brother Luke and that might have led to his death. And with a new Sugden arriving in the village, could Robert also be coming back?
