Emmerdale spoilers follow for Friday’s (February 10) episode that is now available to view on ITVX. The episode in question will air on ITV1 on at 7:30pm.
Belle Dingle (Eden Taylor-Draper) feared that Tom King (James Chase) would make things incredibly difficult for her if she were to begin divorce proceedings.
The events planner, as viewers know, has returned to work and feels ready to move on in the wake of abuser Tom – who tormented her throughout their marriage – being sentenced to three years in prison.
Valentine’s Day marks the one year anniversary since her wedding to Tom and therefore she contemplated setting in motion her divorce.
But Belle admitted that she fears Tom will make the situation incredibly difficult for her, knowing full well that he’s going to fight back.
Despite her fears, however, she refused to let Tom control her any longer and thus contacted a solicitor about getting the ball rolling.
‘This is step one of divorcing Tom’, she said with a smile, proud to have taken such a big leap.
Will Belle get her divorce?
Or, like she suspects, will Tom go out of his way to complicate the situation in one last ditch attempt to reclaim control of the situation?
Tom was arrested and charged in November for coercive controlling behaviour towards Belle, who had bravely reported him to the police months earlier.
The twisted abuser, as viewers know, did everything he could to postpone the trial in a bid to evade justice.
But despite his best efforts, justice was ultimately served, with a jury finding him guilty after an intense trial which saw the judge hand him a custodial sentence of three years.
