Emmerdale fans ‘solve’ John’s true identity and why he ‘killed’ Nate as body found

There could be an almighty Emmerdale twist on the cards after a body was found in a lake on Monday night.

The body was not linked to the limo crash that saw several characters stranded on the icy waters, and left fighting for their lives. Amy Wyatt, one of the passengers, crashed through the ice and became trapped.

It was in this moment that she spotted a decomposing corpse at the bottom of the lake leaving her terrified. The body was already there and had likely been there a while.

Clues on the body left fans convinced it was Nate Robinson who had secretly died, months on from his confusing exit back in September. There’s also speculation that the person who put him there and killed him was John Sugden, after he was the last person to see Nate before his apparent exit.

But why would John kill Nate, and does this prove fans’ fears about John’s real identity? Some viewers are convinced that John isn’t who he says he is, months after initial theories on him hiding his true identity.

In a separate theory fans are convinced it’s his past and his father Jack Sugden that has given him a ‘motive’ for killing innocent Nate. Nate left the village after being accused of having an affair with his dad Cain Dingle’s wife Moira Dingle.

It was a misunderstanding and Nate had done nothing wrong. His uncle Caleb Miligan thought he spotted him kissing Moira, when in fact Moira, who was about to be diagnosed with a brain tumour, had felt faint.

Caleb wasted no time in telling his brother Cain who confronted Nate and beat him up, even disowning him. His partner Tracy also did not believe him as he protested his innocence, resulting in Nate deciding to leave for Shetland.

His final scene saw him heading to the farm to confront Moira about the accusations, but John advised him not to. He commented that no one believed him as it was, so it was best to let things cool down before doing anything stupid.

With that Nate fumed that the village was toxic and he didn’t want to be around his dad anymore, and he seemingly left for good. But with the body being found and clues it could be Nate, what would have led to John killing him like fans believe?

Some fans think John is actually Aidan Moore, a theory first shared months ago. As for a motive, fans think John believed Nate had cheated with Moira and was taking revenge.

John had made it clear that he was impacted by his estranged father Jack Sugden never being part of his life, with John being his secret son after an affair. So did John kill Nate after believing he too was a cheating father?
