However, in scenes yet to air Charity (Emma Atkins) is set to make the worrying discovery that her granddaughter has been drinking whilst on her medication.
The character’s health woes began over a decade ago, when Sarah began to bruise and tire easily much to her parents’ concern.
She was later discovered to have Fanconi anemia, a rare genetic disease which developed into leukaemia.
Sarah needed a bone marrow transplant, which became possible following the birth of younger brother Jack (Seth Ball).
A few years later, the youngster next battled throat cancer, with a fundraising page set up to help fund her proton beam therapy.
The page received an anonymous donation of £20,000.
This was later revealed to have been made by Faith Dingle (Sally Dexter), whom Sarah had been unaware was her great-grandmother.
Although Sarah had treatment and recovered, she later collapsed with heart failure as a result of her chemotherapy.
