Jacob Gallagher (Joe-Warren Plant) has been completely consumed with grief in the aftermath of his mum’s death in Emmerdale.
Leyla Harding (Roxy Shahidi) was one of the three women who died during the soap’s limo crash disaster a few days ago. The death has broken Jacob, who is now experiencing loneliness as a result of losing so many people in his life.
In last night’s episode, multiple village residents noted it was Leyla’s birthday. For Jacob, to distract himself, he decided to go back to his placement at a local A&E department.
His training was a good way to try and focus on something different, but when a patient was brought in with similar injuries to Leyla’s, he fell apart.
Jacob’s mentor sent him home, clearly convinced he had returned to work far too early.
Not wanting to actually be at his house, Jacob sat himself down at The Hide, and ordered multiple beers.
Jacob’s mate Rich then arrived to join him. At first, he wondered if drinking was a good idea for his friend.
Rich’s concern grew further when Jacob decided to return home and invite more people over for a house party.
The beers continued to get opened and music started to play and for Jacob, it was the ideal way to forget about everything that had been going on.
His afternoon of drinking was then interrupted due to the arrival of his girlfriend Sarah (Katie Hill). Unfortunately, Sarah’s attempt at helping Jacob just saw her thrown out of the house.
Jacob hurt Sarah with his words, but he was too swallowed up by his own thoughts and emotions to notice his girlfriend was hiding something from him.
Outside, as Sarah left, we saw she had a pregnancy test in her bag.
It’s certainly not the best timing. If the test is positive, just how will Jacob react?
