Emmerdale exit story for Gail ‘confirmed’ – and it would involve a return
Following reports Gail Loman (Rachael Gill-Davis) will be the next character to leave Emmerdale, speculation has begun as to just how her final scenes will play out.
Gail first appeared on our screens back in 2019 when she was introduced as an old friend of Ryan Stocks (James Moore).
Gail arrived in the village just shortly after Ryan’s date with Dawn Taylor (Olivia Bromley) went awry and Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) was immediately won over by her.
As part of a plan to keep Ryan away from Dawn, Gail kissed him in front of her. The character remained offscreen for four years before returning in a full time capacity in 2023.
This time around, Gail and Ryan embarked on a romance and it was revealed that when they were previously romantically involved, Gail gave birth to a child named Oscar, who she gave up for adoption.
With rumours circulating that Gail won’t be killed off, it certainly suggests there’s a chance young Oscar will return to her life to tie in with her departure.
Oscar, who was diagnosed with aplastic anaemia, got in touch with Gail, who ultimately told Ryan about his son. They subsequently got tested to see if they were a match for a bone marrow transplant.
It was Oscar’s adoptive mother who got in the way of the young lad spending more time with his biological parents, as she tricked them into thinking he didn’t want to see them anymore.
If Oscar was to be without Sophie for whatever reason, it would leave him without parental care. This could prompt him to get in contact with Gail and Ryan again, but would they both leave to be a family together?

Or could it just end up being Gail who exits with Oscar, leaving her relationship with Ryan in a difficult place?
Rachael [who plays Gail] has loved her time on the show but it’s time to go,’ a source told The Sun.
‘Bosses felt the character wasn’t inspiring much story and so it was all very amicable. The door has been left open but it’s a definite goodbye for now.
‘Rachael is looking forward to spreading her wings and showing off her talents on other shows.’
