The following article contains spoilers from an episode of Emmerdale that hasn’t aired on ITV yet, but can be viewed on ITVX.

Marlon Dingle (Mark Charnock) put a desperate plan into place in tonight’s episode of Emmerdale, but he didn’t exactly consider how far things could go.

Ever since daughter April Windsor (Amelia Flanagan) returned, Marlon has struggled with the fact she hasn’t been completely open about her experience on the streets. April hasn’t spoken to Marlon much due to the fact she thinks he wouldn’t understand, and often feels smothered by him.

In an attempt to build trust again, Marlon allowed April’s mate Dylan to stay over. At first, it was only going to be for one night, but Marlon then told April that Dylan could stay until he was clean from spice.

Last week, Marlon met with Ross (Michael Parr) and came to an agreement that something needed to be done about Dylan. They knew that if the young man was out of April’s life, there would be a chance she’d start to trust her family members again.

In tonight’s episode, Ross took April for some breakfast. He started to talk about his experiences with addiction, and tried to tell her that Dylan would be better off getting some professional help elsewhere.

Unfortunately, April processed what Ross had to say, shut down, and concluded that he was just as bad as her dad.

Meanwhile, in the vets, Marlon was chatting to Rhona (Zoe Henry) about Dylan and April. As they spoke, Rhona opened the drugs cabinet and realised a vial of ketamine had gone missing.

With the couple reaching the same conclusion, Dylan was summoned back to the house for a confrontation.

He was certain he was innocent but when he turned out his pockets, Dylan found the drugs hidden inside.

Dylan was sent away, but Marlon then received a call which allowed him to learn the troublesome character had landed in hospital after possibly taking an overdose.

The development left April bitterly disappointed in her friend, but she remains unaware her dad is hiding a secret that has the potential to destroy their relationship for a very long time.

Will she find out the real reason why Dylan got thrown out?
