With the mystery of Nate Robinson’s (Jurell Carter) supposed murder still hanging in the air in Emmerdale, theories are surfacing that John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth) had something to do with it.
So it would appear there is a sinister side to John – we just don’t know what it is yet. There’s been something off about him from the start, and now it looks like Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter) could be in danger because of it.
With John having been the last person to have spoken with Nate, and with eagle-eyed viewers claiming the tarpaulin used to dispose of Anthony was the same as the body of ‘Nate’ in the lake was wrapped in, it seems he could well be a wrong’un after all.
One person who is sensing the bad vibes from John is Chas – and he’s feeling insecure about the fact she won’t fully accept him.
She doesn’t trust him and even pushed him to the point of revealing where the body was through her scepticism, even urging Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller) to turn against him and go to the police.
John decides to go on a charm offensive and throws her a big engagement party at the Woolpack in a bid to turn his relationship with Chas around. She’s suitably delighted, but things turn sour when Ella (Paula Lane) shows up and disrupts things.
John is so pleased with his handywork that he proposes to Aaron (Danny Miller) during a quiet moment together. Only they’re not alone, and Mandy (Lisa Riley) overhears and spills their news to the entire pub.
Any good work he’s done with his future mother-in-law evaporates as while the couple are ecstatic, Chas is hugely disapproving.
Her reaction is not something John expected, and he’s frustrated to overhear Chas telling Aaron he’s making a mistake. These words get under his skin – has the (possible) killer in him been triggered?
Meanwhile, a row erupts as Ella and Chas come to blows over Chas stealing Ella’s man. Chas suddenly collapses in the pub and hits her head badly. Who should be there to save the day?
John, ready to jump in and be the knight in shining armour. Or will he take this opportunity to remove a problem?
