Emmerdale has reportedly made changes to their scripts and set in order to make newcomer Bradley Riches feel more comfortable.

Bradley, who is 23, was diagnosed with autism at the age of 9.

Signs of being on the spectrum can include getting very anxious about or in a social situation, finding it hard to say how you feel, and avoiding eye contact while talking to someone.

As a result of working in a fast-paced environment like Emmerdale, Bradley has had things put in place to ensure he doesn’t feel overwhelmed, and can calm his mind where needed.

‘ITV bosses are really delighted they’ve been able to sign Bradley up. His character has serious potential and they’re doing everything to make his transition into soap as smooth as possible’, a source told The Sun about these changes.

‘One adjust they have made is changing the format of Bradley’s call sheets and scripts so they’re easier to read.

‘There’s also chill out rooms on set for Bradley to utilise in between filming takes.’

Metro has contacted Emmerdale for a comment.

Bradley, who is best known for playing James McEwan in the uplifting coming-of-age Netflix drama Heartstopper, will make his debut in the eponymous village in May, having already commenced filming.

Emmerdale is currently keeping tight-lipped on details surrounding Bradley’s character, but fans can expect more information to come to light in the coming weeks.

On joining the long-running serial drama, Celebrity Big Brother star Bradley said:

‘I’m beyond excited to be joining Emmerdale! It’s a real bucket list moment for me, especially since it was my grandad’s favourite soap, I just know he’d be over the moon.

‘Everyone has been so lovely and welcoming, and the village is even more amazing in real life. I absolutely love my character (though I can’t spill too much just yet!), and I’m just so grateful for this opportunity.

‘I can’t wait for everyone to see what’s in store…’
