Emmerdale seals Caleb’s fate in early ITVX release as Joe Tate makes horror move

The following article contains spoilers from an episode of Emmerdale that hasn’t aired on ITV1 yet, but can be viewed on ITVX.
Joe Tate (Ned Porteous) was frustrated in tonight’s Emmerdale as he learnt the plan to knock Caleb Miligan (William Ash) unconscious hadn’t worked.
A few days ago, Joe discovered from Doctor Crowley (James Hillier) that his uncle Caleb is a match for their organ donation plan. The surgeon later informed Joe about an organised theatre slot for the operation, and all he needed to do was get Caleb to him unconscious.
This seemingly wasn’t an issue for Joe as he had thought about everything down to the last letter. What he hadn’t considered, however, is the fact his plan might not even work.
In tonight’s episode, Caleb met with a lady called Gina at the depot. She was pretending to be a business woman and had arrived to speak with Caleb about a collaboration.
Once Kerry (Laura Norton) arrived with some poorly made drinks, Gina’s actual plan got underway. She spied an opportunity to get Caleb to leave the room for a moment and once he did, she slipped a drug into his drink.
A while later, we found Joe at what we can only assume is the private hospital where his operation is going to take place. He was frustrated, because Gina and Caleb weren’t around.

When she eventually arrived, Gina confirmed to Crowley and Joe that drugging Caleb hadn’t been a success.
We learnt that it was because Caleb had become startled in his meeting with Gina, and accidentally tipped his drink down his shirt.
Wound up, Joe threw Gina out.
Seemingly always the person to state the obvious, Crowley pointed out to Joe that time is running out. The operation has to go ahead tomorrow because if it doesn’t, he won’t be able to secure another theatre slot and therefore, Joe’s health would get even worse.
His alternative idea to get Caleb to Crowley beginning, Joe met with the man who attacked Pete Barton in the woods with some strict instructions.
He said that the plan has to go perfectly and if it doesn’t, it might well be the last thing they both do.
It’s a dark idea, but Joe is a desperate man.
Will it even work?
