Emmerdale fans have been sharing their theories about who killed Nate Robinson - and the culprit might not be who you think
Emmerdale fans reckon they’ve cracked the case of Nate Robinson’s harrowing demise, suggesting a soap heavy-weight may be behind it all.
The theory emerged after the character Amy Barton discovered Nate floating in an icy lake, post a fatal accident that saw three of Emmerdale’s own tragically perish.
Amy later succumbed to the chill-induced cardiac arrest at the hospital but not before she attempted to warn her husband Matty of Nate’s predicament by faintly saying: “Matty, Nate is in the water,” to which Matty, unaware of the severity, responded: “You’re safe now.”
Amy’s final efforts included the haunting repetition: “Nate is in the water,” and a tender: “I love you.”

Meanwhile, Nate’s ex Tracy has been stumped by the silence from Nate since his September 2024 departure for Shetland Life, especially following the limo catastrophe, reports Leeds Live.
With confirmation of Nate’s fate, fans have been fervently speculating on potential culprits, with names like Caleb Milligan, John Sugden, and Mackenzie Boyd surfacing as suspects. Yet, there’s current buzz hinting at an even more eyebrow-raising perpetrator. The show teased viewers earlier this year with brief flashforwards, notably capturing a panicked Mack bolting from an unseen threat.
Emmerdale fans are theorising that Mack could be taking flight from the lake after offloading Nate’s body – though he’s not the killer. There’s chatter among viewers that Mack might be shielding his sister Moira Dingle, who they reckon could have accidentally bumped off her stepson amid a health crisis.
Last year, Moira got hit with the news of a meningioma brain tumour, which brought on seizures, mood swings, and memory blackouts.

She previously tangled up in an affair with Nate and attempted to reignite that spark in the barn while hampered by her condition, only to be caught out by Caleb.
“What if Moira killed Nate while she had her tumour and can’t remember doing it and she rang Mackenzie and that’s why in the flashforward he’s running through the woods and the body being pushed off the bridge was Nate’s and Mackenzie disposed of the body to save his sister any heartache,” speculated someone on an Emmerdale fan group on Facebook.
“This would make sense of Moira’s brain op. Of course it was Moira. She defo killed Nate and has no memory of it,” stated another viewer, while a third chimed in: “Oh that’s a good theory.”
Meanwhile, another fan is convinced, saying: “Could well be. I think the body we saw go over the bridge was Nate’s too. I think we’ll see it as a flashback when we find out what happened to him.”
