Emmerdale’s Tom to take Belle abuse ‘to another level’ reveals star after ofcom complaints

Emmerdale's Belle Dingle is set to face more horror at the hands of abusive husband Tom King, with actress Eden Taylor-Draper warning that things are set to get worse

Emmerdale’s Eden Taylor-Draper has revealed that her character Belle Dingle is set to face even more turmoil in the harrowing Tom King abuse storyline.

Over the past few months, viewers have watched as Tom (played by James Chase) has subjected his wife Belle (Eden Taylor-Draper) to a campaign of abuse and gaslighting. Belle has since ended their marriage after seeing Tom’s true colours and recently reported him to the police.

She has also applied under Clare’s Law, which allows her to find out if Tom has any previous allegations of abuse or violence against him.

Despite Tom showing no signs of letting Belle go, she has kept quiet about the abuse he has inflicted on her. In a shocking turn of events, the villain even appeared to kill her beloved dog Piper, leaving Belle heartbroken.

Belle’s loved ones, including Vinny (Bradley Johnson) and Charity (Emma Atkins), have expressed their worries about her situation. However, in upcoming episodes, Tom continues his manipulative and abusive behaviour, reports the Manchester Evening News.

Fans will remember that he has installed software on Belle’s laptop, allowing him to see everything she does online. In a chilling twist, he makes a veiled comment that leads Belle to realise he has been reading her private emails, including her Clare’s Law application.

Actress Eden Taylor-Draper has now hinted that this is an indication that things are about to get much worse for Belle.

She told Metro: “When he makes that snide comment and she realises he’s hacked into her laptop I think that’s huge. Because obviously she knows what he’s capable of but this is on another level.”

Additionally, the soap is gearing up for a dramatic episode next week, showing an hour-long special centred around Belle and her ordeal with domestic abuse by Tom. Set to be aired on ITV1 on 5 September, the programme will project three potential futures for Belle.

The soap is set to air a special episode about Belle

Tom ominously warned Belle the previous night, insisting he would never let her go. These words trigger Belle into a surreal daydream where she envisages various scenarios that might unfold in her life, all within the iconic village setting.

The unique episode, penned by Tony Higgins and helmed by Tim O’Mara, portrays Belle in a trance-like state exiting her house, as each imagined event unravels around her.

Throughout the show, Belle encounters and witnesses moments that might not transpire in reality, providing viewers a glimpse into the potential terrors that lie ahead. Till now, Belle has been too scared to disclose the extent of her suffering, a common thread in coercive relationships.
